Effects of Irene

Information on the Recovery Efforts

On August 28, our dear Rainbow suffered a near-total loss as Tropical Storm Irene ravaged our precious state of Vermont. Thankfully all our teachers, our students and their families are safe, but we are now faced with starting over again just as we were ready to start the new school year.

Because of the intensity of the storm, our classrooms and outdoor play area were severely damaged and nearly all of our teaching supplies, toys, books and curricula were lost to the water damage and the silty mess left behind. More pressing, though, is that our space in the Little Theatre building is now closed, and we are unsure of when it may reopen.

So many of our friends and neighbors have been hard-hit by Irene. Our thoughts are with all the families as they navigate through the changes and help each other through these difficult  and challenging times.
